We are excited about the spirit, gifts, and abilities that Pastor Tommy (James Thomas Boutell) will be bringing to our congregation. His wife Shelly and he have been married for 32 years and have three adult children and one granddaughter. Shelly is an MSW therapist specializing in substance-use disorders and complex care. He will serve two churches, Grand Rapids South UMC and Byron Center United Methodist Church.  He has been in full-time ministry since finishing seminary in 2009 and has master’s degrees in political science and divinity.   We are planning a warm welcome for Pastor Tommy and look forward to beginning our shared ministry under his leadership.    Please hold them and their family in prayer during these months of transition.  Trust God’s amazing grace, Christ’s faithful love, and the presence and power of the Holy Spirit as we move into the future.
